Wild Card, Los Angeles Dodgers and Reds
Digest more
The second day of the 2025 MLB playoffs is in the books and three out of four series are headed to a do-or-die Game 3. The Los Angeles Dodgers are the lone team to wrap up their Wild Card Series, sweeping the Cincinnati Reds in dominating fashion.
In Wednesday’s other games, the San Diego Padres drew level in their series with the Chicago Cubs after a 3-0 win. Elsewhere, the Cleveland Guardians forced their AL Wild Card series against the Detroit Tigers to a deciding game after winning 6-1 in Game 2.
The Guardians beat the Tigers, the Padres beat the Cubs, and the Yankees beat the Red Sox today to force Game 3s tomorrow in those series. The Dodgers defeated the Reds to advance to the NLDS, where they will face the Phillies.
The starting pitching is terrific. The offense is clicking. The Los Angeles Dodgers have opened the postseason on a roll in defense of their World Series title.
Bullpen dramatics aside, the Dodgers made it look easy against the Cincinnati Reds. But their next opponent presents more of a challenge.
