School closings, including for Chicago Public Schools, are in effect in Chicago, Illinois and Northwest Indiana ahead of frigid temperatures that prompted an Extreme Cold Warning.

With parts of the Chicago area dealing with heavy snow Sunday and with the prospect of frigid wind chills Monday, some schools are switching to e-learning.

For Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, the following schools will be closed or have a delayed start due to extreme weather and potentially hazardous road conditions. This list will be updated as closings or delays are announced. Meadow Montessori School - Closed. Childcare will be open.

INDIANAPOLIS — Some central Indiana schools have announced plans to operated on delayed schedules Tuesday morning. As of 6:02 p.m., more than 20 schools had entered delays in FOX59/CBS4’s closings systems.

Plenty of schools in central Indiana are operating on delays for Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued a Cold Weather Advisory on Monday that is set to be active till 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Wind chills could drop to 12 degrees below zero.
