The Blue Jays looked down and out through six innings. But George Springer delivered with yet another clutch postseason home run to send Toronto to the World Series.
George Springer sent a sinker just over the left field wall to lead the Toronto Blue Jays past the Seattle Mariners and to their first World Series in 32 years.
The three-run home run led the Blue Jays to a 4-3 victory over the Mariners, clinching Toronto’s first World Series berth since 1993. The Blue Jays will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fall classic, with Game 1 set for Friday night.
Springer's Monday night three-run home run was his 23rd career postseason home run, tied for third most in postseason history with Kyle Schwarber, trailing just Jose Altuve (27) and Manny Ramirez (29). Springer also ranks seventh all-time with 20 career postseason doubles.
Three days after Mariners fans in Seattle booed George Springer after a pitch hit him on the knee, the Blue Jays star got a measure of revenge.
