There are no reports that any sailors aboard the USS New Orleans were injured by a fire that broke out while the ship was near Okinawa, Japan, a Navy official said.
An emergency medical services worker was struck by a vehicle in the 7th Ward Wednesday morning, according to the New Orleans Police Department. The worker was hit at around 7 a.m. at the intersection of North Miro Street and Elysian Fields Avenue. He was taken to a hospital, police said.
A fire on the USS New Orleans prompted firefighting efforts by Japanese forces near White Beach Naval Facility, NHK reported.
