Thousands of Arizonans are expected to join rallies and marches this weekend in a second series of “No Kings” protests held to criticize President Donald Trump and his administration for its authoritarian actions.
The first "No Kings Day" protests on June 14 were organized to coincide with Trump’s 79th birthday and Flag Day when there was a military parade in Washington, DC, in honor of the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary. That day, there were protests in more than 1,800 communities to oppose what they saw as Trump's power grab.
Protesters once again are expected to gather in streets across the country this weekend in opposition of President Donald Trump’s policies. Here's what you need to know about the demonstrations.
From Maricopa and San Tan Valley to Anthem and Fountain Hills to Sun City and Buckeye, there are many events in the greater Phoenix area, according to a No Kings map at nokings.org. There is only one rally planned in Phoenix at the Arizona State Capitol at 1700 W. Washington St.
"The anger level is way higher" than it was earlier this year, which will drive up turnout, organizer says. GOP accuses protesters of hating America.
Americans will protest President Trump's administration on October 18. These 'No Kings' demonstrations are planned across all 50 states. Organizers aim to show the strength of the people against perceived abuses of power.
