Electronic programming equipment and blank vehicle key fobs were stolen from a locksmith in an armed carjacking in Easton Wednesday afternoon.
Some Jeep Grand Cherokee L's are reportedly completely useless after the key fob is unable to communicate with the necessary electronics.
According to police, between Dec. 29, 2024, and Feb. 20, 2025, thieves have been using sophisticated scanner tools to reprogram blank key fobs in under 90 seconds.
