49ers, NFC West and Rams

Not only were the 49ers missing Purdy, Nick Bosa (who is out for the season with a torn ACL) and star tight end George Kittle (who landed on injured reserve after Week 1), but also wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings.
The 49ers pulled off one of the shocking upsets of the early NFL season, ignoring multiple injuries for a 26-23 overtime victory over the Rams.
Jones was only playing because Brock Purdy, the quarterback signed to a $265 million contract in the offseason, had been hurt in the season opener, and in the process joined a rash of big names sidelined by injury — from Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, to the Giants’ Malik Nabers, to potentially two-time MVP Lamar Jackson in Baltimore, as well.
With Purdy ruled out, Mac Jones will get the nod. Jones has played in two games, completing 53 of 80 passes (66.3%) for 563 yards and four touchdowns with just one interception. In a 26-21 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 14, he completed 26 of 39 passes (66.7%) for 279 yards and three touchdowns.
The San Francisco 49ers stayed atop the NFC West with a miracle win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5. Here are the highlights.
