Lancashire is being battered by strong winds and heavy rainfall today as Storm Amy hits the UK. Two yellow weather warnings for the region have now come into effect with forecasters saying the treacherous conditions will bring a 'danger to life' and risk of flooding,
The storm has developed in the North Atlantic due to interactions from the remnants of hurricanes Humberto and Imelda with a strong jet stream.
A number of leagues have announced that it has cancelled all of its matches tomorrow as a result of a storm which is set to hit the north this weekend. The North of Scotland Football League have also confirmed that all matches in the North of Scotland Premiership and Championship have been cancelled.
A series of events across Lancashire have been cancelled or postponed due to the extreme weather conditions expected as Storm Amy arrives this weekend. The first storm of the year is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds of up to 95mph throughout the UK, with Lancashire issued a yellow weather warning for extreme wind.
