Chargers final injury report: Will Mekhi Becton play in Week 5?
The Chargers had their final practice on Friday ahead of the Week 5 game against the Commanders. Offensive guard Mekhi Becton was a full participant and is listed as questionable as he continues to work through concussion protocol. This comes after being a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Los Angeles Chargers are unlikely to have injured star offensive tackle Joe Alt on the field for Week 5 against the Washington Commanders. Games after that feel up in the air, too, at least according to the latest Alt injury update.
NFL Insider Tom Pelissero gives an injury update on Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel ahead of their Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With Joe Alt out and Mekhi Becton questionable to play Sunday, coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman won’t reveal how the O-line might look.
McLaurin, who signed a three-year, $97 million contract extension in August, has caught 10 passes for 149 yards in three games prior to the injury. He had his most productive game of the 2025 season in Week 3 when he recorded four receptions for 74 yards against the Raiders.
The Chargers were riding high and undefeated until last week’s encounter with Jaxson Dart and the Giants. That result - a 21-18 loss - coupled with the Chiefs and Broncos each getting back to .500 with wins last week makes the AFC West plenty tighter than it looked just a week ago.
The Los Angeles Chargers have a crisis on the offensive line in front of Justin Herbert right now. After an offseason of criticism that featured them keeping struggling starters Bradley Bozeman and Zion Johnson, the Chargers have lost the other three starters to injury.
OLB Tuli Tuipulotu had a career-high four sacks to kick-start a pass rush that was missing Khalil Mack (dislocated elbow). Tuipulotu, who failed to record a sack through the first three games of the season, finished with five tackles for loss.
The Los Angeles Chargers suffer another significant injury in their loss against the New York Giants
The Los Angeles Chargers took another hit on the offensive line Sunday when rookie tackle Joe Alt went down early in the Week 4 matchup against the New York Giants. Alt left the game in the first quarter with what high ankle sprain.
More notable was whether starting guard Mekhi Becton would be all the way back and in front of Justin Herbert. As it turns out, Becton’s name is on the final injury report, with Harbaugh telling reporters that the starting guard remains in concussion protocol.
