Lansing police responded to the Walmart at 17625 Torrence Avenue for a report of shots fired. There, they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

A woman was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Walmart store in south suburban Lansing Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The man shot by police at the Lake Lansing Meijer in 2022 is now facing several felony charges for another crime. The case stems from a domestic violence incident on March 3, 2025. VanAtten had previously made headlines after he was shot at an East Lansing Meijer by police in 2022.
