Vest redeemed himself with a seed to All-Star shortstop Javier Báez, who tagged out Ramírez for the second time in the elimination game. Vest expertly fielded a grounder to the mound in the bottom of the ninth, during which he retired the Guardians 1-2-3 to seal the series victory.

It was a similar situation for the Tigers, who had found themselves with multiple runners on many times in the series, but this time they pulled through. Wenceel Pérez, who manager A.J. Hinch trusted to hit third in the lineup, crushed a single to right field, scoring two runs.

The Cleveland Guardians won't have to play as early in the afternoon for Thursday's Game 3 against the Detroit Tigers.
