LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ryan Hollingshead scored a goal in the 86th minute to help Los Angeles FC beat New York City FC 1-0 on Saturday night. On the counter-attack, Hollingshead ran onto a loose ball after a failed clearance attempt by NYCFC and blasted a one-touch shot from the right-center of the box to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead.

After opening the season with a 1–0 win over Minnesota United, they continued the trend Saturday with the same score line against New York City FC. In between those games, they kept a Concacaf Champions Cup clean sheet, a 1–0 win over the Colorado Rapids to advance to that competition’s round of 16.

The Black & Gold have yet to beat NYCFC, which they haven’t played in five years going into Saturday night’s game at BMO Stadium.
