The third-ranked Minnesota women’s hockey team led, then trailed, then rallied for victory in a 4-3 win at No. 12 Minnesota State University in Mankato.
But sitting in the bleachers behind Minnetonka/Wayzata’s net was a group of people left in stunned awe. This group happened to be the Minnesota State men’s hockey team, one of the top programs in the country, who took in Visker’s unforgettable opening moment. It’s a relationship which proves that, in fact, hockey is for everyone.
The Gopher men's hockey team hasn't played in a month. The women came out of their holiday break with a non-conference sweep that included a program record 14-goal outburst. Both resume conference play with important matchups to begin the second half of the season.
The Mavericks swept the Gophers at Ridder Arena Nov. 21-22. It appears that Minnesota is keen to flip the script this time around as the visiting Gophers scored nine goals in the first two periods before calling off the dogs in an 11-3 victory in Mankato Friday night.
