Three teens were hurt - with one severely injuring a hand - in an illegal-fireworks explosion in Lancaster, authorities said.

A 9-year-old girl had her hand amputated after a firework exploded, causing her serious injury, in Compton, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. On Saturday, the Leadwood Fire Protection District said during an inspection of the scene, a live mortar-style firework was found in the park.
