A major AWS outage Monday morning caused problems with many of the largest sites on the internet for several hours. And it's not the first time.
An Amazon Web Services outage has caused significant issues for a number of high-profile websites Monday morning, including Snapchat, Roblox, Fortnite, online broker Robinhood and the McDonald’s app.
The city’s federal suit, filed today, alleges the Department of Homeland Security has tied long-standing funding that pays for cybersecurity tools, hazmat suits, first responder salaries and more to “unlawful conditions” outlawing the city’s “diversity, equity and inclusion” efforts. Thousands of websites and apps like Snapchat, Roblox, Ring and more were down or experiencing issues Monday morning as a major cloud computing service went offline.
The outage Monday affected people and businesses all across the world. According to CNET, Downdetector saw over 9.8 million reports, including 2.7 million coming from the U.S. and 1.1 million from the UK. That included United Airlines, McDonald's and Venmo. Amazon said late Monday afternoon its systems are mostly back online.
