In August, the Nevada Supreme Court ruled in favor of Gruden, 5-2, that the NFL Constitution and Bylaws' arbitration clause "does not apply to Gruden as a former employee and is unconscionable." As such, the case could proceed in public instead of going to arbitration as preferred by the NFL.
After persuading the Nevada Supreme Court to keep his civil lawsuit against the league and Commissioner in the court system (and not relegate it to the league's secret, rigged, kangaroo court of arbitration), Gruden got another victory when the same court denied on Thursday the NFL's request for a rehearing.

The U.S. Supreme Court term begins each year in October, with bigger decisions often not expected until the end of the term in June. The term that starts this year will include cases that touch on issues related to campaign finance, the environment, voting rights, and immigration, among others.
