Forza Horizon 5 is officially coming to PlayStation 5 on April 29, and that's great for the game. However, it's also missing a feature that hurts existing players.

Some of PlayStation's single-player games have since had their PSN account requirements removed due to the backlash, but Sony president Hiroki Totoki suggested just a few months ago that forcing a PlayStation Network account for "live service" titles on PC was important in order for players to "enjoy the games safely".

Last month, Microsoft surprised gamers by announcing that another Xbox-exclusive game is headed to the PS5, and that's racing game, Forza Horizon 5. It's not just a straight port, as today, Playground Games has revealed that the PS5 version will even have features not available on Xbox platforms.

Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5 requires a Microsoft account, the company has confirmed. Confirmation comes from a FAQ posted to the Forza support website: “Yes, in addition to a PSN account you’ll need to link to a Microsoft account in order to play Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. This process begins the first time you start up the game on your console.”

Forza Horizon 5' developer Playground Games has confirmed PlayStation users will require a Microsoft account as well as a PlayStation Network account in order to access the title.

Eurogamer reports that Forza Horizon 5 players on PS5 will need a Microsoft account to play, linking it permanently to their PlayStation Network account.
