Away from fighting, Jones dealt with a felony hit-and-run charge, then tested positive for banned substances. Jones eventually got back in the game and made more history in 2023, when he claimed the UFC Heavyweight Championship. He was just the eighth UFC fighter to be a two-division champion.

The U-turn is notable given that UFC rules mandate a minimum six-month testing period before a fighter can compete, meaning Jones could be eyeing a return in 2026.
