NAIROBI (Reuters) -Kenyan police opened fire on a crowd of advancing protesters in Nairobi on Monday, a Reuters reporter said, as scattered demonstrations broke out across the country to mark the 35th anniversary of pro-democracy rallies.

Police fired tear gas and used a water cannon in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, on Monday to disperse protesters on the street.

Kenyan police sealed off Nairobi, as citizens marked ‘Saba Saba’, known as July 7 with protests against alleged corruption, police brutality, and the high cost of living.
