A powerful storm has hit the U.K. and Ireland, causing major disruptions. London’s Royal Parks closed on Saturday due to severe winds.
More than 1,000 homes have been left without power due to Storm Amy. SP Electricity North West said it was working to restore power to properties across Cumbria after "a very blustery night". The network has been impacted by damaged overhead lines, with most of the affected properties in the Penrith area.
Police were called to the property on Friday night after locals spotted a man entering the damaged building and leaving with an item.

Just under 50,000 ESB customers remained without power in Ireland on Saturday afternoon after damage caused by severe weather brought on by Storm Amy. The number of affected customers has reduced significantly since 184,000 customers were without power at the height of the storm on Friday.
Power outages were predominantly in counties Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Galway and Mayo, as crews continued to work to restore power in “difficult conditions”. The ESB said it expected the majority of customers who did not have their power restored on Saturday to have supply back by Sunday night.
More than 60,000 homes were left without power as wind and rain swept across Scotland overnight.
