Chelsea went down early at West Ham but responded with vigor through a quintet of goal scorers led by Joao Pedro on Friday at the London Stadium.

Wearing the new Club World Cup winners badge, Chelsea was held to a scoreless draw at home against Crystal Palace, looking less than lively in their opening match. West Ham, which has spent more than $90 million to upgrade the team this summer, was crushed 3-0 by newly-promoted Sunderland.
