A brush fire dubbed the Sandy Fire, burning in the Simi Valley area, has grown to nearly 1,700 acres on Wednesday morning as crews continue to battle flames.

The Sandy Fire ignited in the city of Simi Valley and spread across 1,364 acres (550 hectares) with minimal containment as of Tuesday, officials said.

Dramatic footage shared by Instagram user Mia Luv showed helicopters dropping water over the flames while thick smoke filled the sky and emergency crews battled the wildfire near homes.
