A first edition of a Superman comic from 1939, which originally cost 10 cents, was sold on Nov. 20 for $9.12 million at auction, according to a news release from Heritage Auctions.
Superman's first appearance was in "Action Comics" No. 1, published in 1938. A copy of that comic graded 8.5 was most recently sold in April 2024 by Heritage Auctions for a then-record $6 million.
