Meta has managed to cause controversy with its AI push yet again, after Instagram started showing users AI-generated pictures of themselves in their feeds.
Bloomberg reviewed the internal memo explaining the cuts, which was posted to Meta's internal Workplace forum Tuesday. In it, Zuckerberg confirmed that Meta was shifting its strategy to "move out low performers faster" so that Meta can hire new talent to fill those vacancies this year.
Initial negative responses were around concern about AI-generated "slop" that already litters Facebook and that Meta would be directly feeding into the feeds itself. The more prominent backlash came as people discovered the accounts describing themselves as actual people with racial and sexual identities.
