After defeating the San Antonio Spurs to win the NBA Cup Tuesday night in Las Vegas, Jalen Brunson and the Knicks opted not to hang a banner at the Garden. Instead, the team will recognize the achievement before Friday’s home game with the Philadelphia 76ers.
New York rallied from an 11-point second-half deficit to beat San Antonio 124-113 in the NBA Cup championship game. The Knicks outscored the Spurs 35-19 in the fourth quarter and held a 67-56 rebounding edge.
It was quite the return, as Wembanyama’s 22 points helped the Spurs push past the Oklahoma City Thunder to move into the NBA Cup final. The game announced the Spurs as legitimate contenders, and set up a potential rivalry in the Western Conference that could dominate the NBA for years to come.
