By Kanishka Singh WASHINGTON, Feb 26 (Reuters) - New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he had a productive meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, discussing issues including housing and student detentions by federal immigration authorities.
Trump touched on a "roaring economy," immigration, addressed tariffs and attacked Democrats during his one-hour and 50-minute speech on Feb. 24.
To defend an increasingly unpopular immigration crackdown during his State of the Union speech, President Trump highlighted the victims of crimes perpetuated by undocumented immigrants.
