More than 60,000 electric vehicles made by Volkswagen have had to be recalled in the United States due to a dangerous display error caused by a software issue
Volkswagen's factory in Puebla, Mexico, made nearly 350,000 cars in 2023, including the Jetta, Tiguan and Taos, all for export to the U.S. In Canada, Volkswagen is building a battery gigafactory in Ontario, with output to begin by 2027.
A possible 25 percent levy on goods from Canada and Mexico is likely to raise the prices consumers pay for new cars and trucks, and disrupt complex supply chains.
