Casting many lines The New York Jets are coming off one of the most dismal seasons in a history of dismal seasons. So much was expected from Aaron Rodgers, and so little was delivered. That led to the firing of Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich finishing out as the interim coach.

According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, 49ers QB coach Brian Griese declined an interview request from the Jets for their head coaching vacancy.

Former head coach Robert Saleh was fired by the team all the way back in October. At the time, New York had a 2-3 record. After turning things over to interim Jeff Ulbrich, it didn’t go much better. The Jets finished the 2024 NFL season at 5-12.

The Jets also are expected to interview Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr., Vikings quarterbacks coach Josh McCown and 49ers quarterbacks coach Brian Griese.

For some of those teams, that will involve finding new head coaches and/or General Managers. Three teams fired their head coaches during the season and two more have been dispatched as of 9 a.m. ET on January 6.
