An American Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Phoenix had only been in the air a few minutes when a passenger’s personal device caught fire, sending smoke throughout the cabin. The plane was diverted to Washington’s Dulles Airport where it landed safely to fire crews waiting on the ground.

The flight from Philadelphia was forced to land after "the crew reported a fire in one of the passenger rows," the FAA said.
