A number of questionable decisions went against the United States men's national team during Sunday's 2-1 loss to Mexico in the Gold Cup final, including what appeared to be a handball by Mexican defender Jorge Sánchez that wasn't called.

Mexico’s El Tri defeated the USMNT 2-1 in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup final, cementing its record as the tournament’s most successful team in the region with 10 trophies.

For 23 fleeting minutes, the USMNT was atop CONCACAF. But it succumbed to a Mexican comeback, and, in the end, a better team. So it settled for second place at the Gold Cup.
