In the wake of the long-awaited GPT-5 release, it appears that OpenAI has learned one big lesson: that it does not know its user base.
"You can learn from everywhere, but you have to do it from scratch," ChatGPT's Nick Turley said. "That trait tends to make someone effective at OpenAI."

OpenAI on Thursday released GPT-5, unveiling a new version of the artificial intelligence model that fuels popular chatbot ChatGPT. The product will be made immediately available to users, including customers who use the company's cost-free options, OpenAI said.
"When you ask something like 'Should I break up with my boyfriend?' ChatGPT shouldn't give you an answer," the company said in a statement about the changes. "It should help you think it through—asking questions, weighing pros and cons. New behavior for high-stakes personal decisions is rolling out soon."
