The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the federal agency within the Department of Transportation responsible for automotive safety, has opened a new investigation looking into a Ram defect that may not have been remedied by a previous recall.

These Ram trucks were recalled once already, though the NHTSA is concerned that the remedy may have failed after receiving more than a dozen owner reports.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Monday it opened a recall query covering about 1.2 million Stellantis' Ram trucks over concerns related to the transmission.
