OpenAI wants to make clear that Robinhood's sale of "OpenAI tokens" will not give everyday consumers equity — or stock — in OpenAI.

OpenAI issued a firm statement Wednesday denying any affiliation with the tokenized equity tokens offered by trading platform Robinhood, emphasizing that the tokens do not represent real ownership or equity in the company.

OpenAI said it was not involved in Robinhood’s launch of tokenized shares in Europe, warning users the assets were issued without its approval.
