The San Francisco 49ers were hoping to get some version of good news throughout the week on their practice participation report. That wasn't the case Tuesday where a handful of stars remained absent from the sessions.

As for the Cardinals, their running back contingency plan is being tested. James Conner is out for the year, which opened the door for second-year back Trey Benson.
