North Carolina Republicans proposed a new congressional map Thursday, escalating the national battle over redistricting ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The new map could flip the 1st Congressional District in the Republicans’ favor. Democrat Representative Don Davis won the swing district by less than two points in 2024.

More than 60 "No Kings" protests are planned in Wisconsin this weekend, part of what could be the largest day of protest in modern American history.

Another ' No Kings' protest march is being held at locations across the country on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Multiple demonstrations are planned for the Triangle alone, and several more are expected in the Charlotte area.
