Josef Newgarden was back atop the speed chart Thursday in the last practice before cars get a horsepower boost on "Fast Friday" for qualifying weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

It was a stop and start and stop again kind of day for the second day of Indianapolis 500 practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and between the brief bouts of rain in the afternoon, the fastest lap was produced by Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou,

Scott Dixon and Conor Daly rounded out the top five while David Malukas, Marcus Armstrong, Helio Castroneves, Jack Harvey, and Christian Rasmussen filled out the remainder of the top ten. Santino Ferrucci, who was very vocal about his unhappiness with the car, ranked 33rd while three-time Indy 500 pole-sitter Ed Carpenter was 34th (last).
