Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth, who has missed the last four weeks with a fractured rib, was activated off the injured list prior to Friday night's road game against the Rockies.

Merrill is again the clean-up hitter after returning Tuesday, shortstop Xander Bogaerts will bat fifth and designated hitter Gavin Sheets, left fielder Jason Heyward and catcher Martín Maldonado will comprise the bottom third.
