HOUSTON — U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino faulted match officials for three key calls in the Americans’ 2-1 CONCACAF Gold Cup final loss to Mexico on Sunday night, saying they wouldn’t allow a video review to deny an El Tri goal for the third time in the tournament.

Mexico beat the USMNT, 2-1, on Sunday in Houston to repeat as Gold Cup champions and snap a six-game losing streak to the Americans in official matches.

Mexico beat the U.S. men’s national team 2-1 to win back-to-back Gold Cup titles for its 10th overall crown. El Tri had not defeated the Americans in a competitive match in six years, the last victory coming in the 2019 final of this tournament.
