Crews painted over the colorful memorial honoring the victims of the 2016 Orlando mass shooting, one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent U.S. history

Florida officials have once again painted over the rainbow crosswalk near the Pulse nightclub site. Protesters added the rainbow design after Florida officials had recently repainted the crosswalk. The crosswalk honored the 49 lives lost in the 2016 nightclub shooting.

The mayor of Orlando, Fla., said that the crosswalk mural, which featured the Pride flag’s colors, was removed overnight this week. Community members protested and have, for now, repainted it.
