Four wildfires burning in western Colorado have consumed more than 250 square miles, threatened hundreds of homes and forced evacuations, fire officials said.

Former LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley filed a tort claim, saying Mayor Karen Bass had defamed the veteran firefighter in order to clear her own name.

Spain's weather agency warned the public on Monday to be "cautious" of the "very high or extreme fire danger."

The Los Angeles Fire Department chief, who was removed in February over the department’s response to the raging wildfires, accused LA Mayor Karen Bass of waging a “misinformation” campaign against her.

The fires have ravaged small, sparsely populated towns in the country's northwest, forcing locals in many cases to act as firefighters. About 2,382 square miles have burned across Spain and Portugal.

The death toll is now at two in Portugal and four in Spain as the fires burn for a second week, according to AFP. The fires are largely located in the northwest regions of Galicia, Castile and León, and Extremadura. More than 31,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes in Spain due to the fires, according to The Guardian .

The Bivens Creek and Cloudrest fires have burned 2,088 acres in Madison County and remain uncontained as of Monday.

Spain's worst wave of wildfires on record spread to the southern slopes of the Picos de Europa mountains and prompted authorities to close part of the popular Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.

Four fires that sparked on Sunday are burning along the Highway 200 corridor near Flathead River west of Dixon.

The study comes as Trump has issued an executive order calling for more logging on federal land to boost timber production and mitigate fire risk. The study instead suggests prescribed burns are the best tactic – a practice that has been historically used by indigenous people before land agencies stopped them in the 1900s.
