Fulgora laternaria (also known as the lantern fly, peanut big, and alligator bug) is a planthopper found in the tropical forests in Mexico and Central and South America. It’s just short of a centimeter in length with a 10 – 15 mm protuberance at the top of its head that makes it look like a very weird but very cool butterfly-moth-alligator hybrid.
