Frederick Douglass, a leader in the abolitionist movement, chose for his birthday to be celebrated on #ThisDayInHistory. Born into slavery around 1818, the exact year and date of his birth are unknown. An advocate for women’s rights, and specifically the right of women to vote, Douglass’ legacy as an author and leader lives on.
