In honor of Lag B’Omer, the Israel Antiquities Authority presents a rare bronze coin 🥇 dated to over 2,000 years ago when a small group of Jewish freedom fighters, led by Simon Bar Kokhba, launched a revolt against the Roman Legion for the liberation of Jerusalem. In defiance of Roman rule, they mint a series of coins to publicize and commemorate their cause. The coin, discovered in the City of David excavations ⛏ is the one of only four discovered in the area from the period of the Bar Kokhba
